About Me

Hi there, I'm Eugene! I'm a former professional ballet dancer turned leadership strategist, community builder, and consultant. After spending nearly two decades performing professionally, I learned that excellence isn't created in the spotlight; it's built through discipline, trust, intentional practice, and the countless systems working together behind the scenes. That philosophy continues to shape how I lead today.

Throughout my career, I've found myself drawn to the same challenge: helping organizations solve complex problems by developing people rather than simply managing projects. Whether coaching volunteer leaders, designing leadership frameworks, contributing to nonprofit governance, or cultivating strategic partnerships, my work centers on creating systems that empower others to succeed long after I'm gone.

As Senior Volunteer Manager at The Phoenix, I lead volunteer strategy and community development across Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Georgia, supporting more than 450 volunteer leaders who facilitate over 5,000 recovery-focused events each year. My work has evolved beyond managing programming into designing scalable leadership systems that shift organizations from execution-based models to coaching-centered cultures. That philosophy came to life through the Micro Volunteer Community Leadership (Micro-VCL) Pilot, a coaching-centered leadership framework I designed to help volunteers identify and define their leadership style, cultivate community ownership, build strategic partnerships, and launch sustainable, volunteer-led communities.

Business development has been a consistent thread throughout my career. I believe meaningful partnerships are built through trust, shared purpose, and creating value for everyone involved. From cultivating relationships with nonprofits, treatment providers, community organizations, corporate partners, and arts organizations to identifying opportunities for sustainable growth, I enjoy connecting people, ideas, and resources that strengthen communities.

Outside of my professional work, I serve on the Board of Directors for Bruce Wood Dance, where I contribute to governance, marketing, fundraising, board recruitment, and long-term strategic planning. I also co-chaired Well Well West, one of Dallas' largest community wellness festivals, helping unite nonprofit organizations, sponsors, and local businesses around a shared vision for community impact.

At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: sustainable organizations are built by developing leaders, not followers. Whether mentoring emerging leaders, coaching organizations through change, building strategic partnerships, or helping teams navigate complexity, my goal is to help people discover their strengths, define their leadership, and create systems that continue generating impact long after the initial work is complete.

Because when people are empowered to lead from their strengths, communities don't just grow; they thrive.
